Fall Visit & Practice Audition Day

Program Overview

Each year, the School of Music hosts two visitation events for high school students. Last April, Spring Visit Day (for all high school grades) was postponed. This year, we have combined Visit Day with Practice Audition Day, which is presented each October for high school juniors and seniors.

This virtual event will include sessions on a number of topics of interest to anyone curious about majoring in music in college. All high school students and their parents will learn about the musical opportunities at Ohio State, meet studio faculty and ensemble directors, and more.

High school juniors and seniors will have the option to schedule a practice audition with studio faculty, either that day or another time in October.

Topics covered during Fall Visit & Practice Audition Day may include:

  • The Ohio State and School of Music admissions process
  • Tips on auditioning and playing in public
  • Preparing to be a music major and for college music theory
  • The Music Education program at Ohio State
  • ...and more.

This is a free event, but all students must register online. After registering, you will receive a general confirmation email. Approximately one week before the event, you will also receive Final Instructions with details for the virtual event. Details for the practice auditions will be provided to registered juniors and seniors. In preparation for your practice audition, refer to the School of Music Audition Requirements as a general guideline.

For additional opportunities to learn more about the School of Music, check out our School of Music Virtual Visit Events.

Future students may also submit our Future Student Information Form (note that we do not share your information) or Request a virtual visit.
