Katherine Borst Jones, professor of flute, presented a clinic for thirty flute students from Northmore City Schools, Crestline Exempted Village, Galion City and Colonel Crawford Local School District, organized by Brian Griffin from Crestline High School. Students performed solos and participated in a clinic covering flute fundamentals such as tone, breathing, articulation, vibrato and phrasing.

Heather Lofdahl, assistant professor of string music education, led a pre-National Orchestra Festival clinic with the Pickerington High School North Orchestra students on Nov. 13. They were preparing to attend, perform in, and compete in the National Orchestra Festival (NOF) in March 2024.

On May 4, Faculty Laura Portune, soprano; Caroline Hartig, clarinet and Ed Bak, piano performed a lovely recital at the Mary Tolbert House, the historical home of Professor Emeritus Mary Tolbert (1915-2012) in Circleville, OH. Mary taught in the School of Music for over 40 years. A docent spoke about Mary, her love of music education, and the legacy of this house. Denise Simms Sunderland, Executive Secretary of the Pickaway County Historical Society, also provided a tour of the home before the recital.

Members Mason Williams, Bernadette John, Saoirse Hurley, and Sean Beauman traveled with ensemble director Isaac McCarthy and School of Music Director Michael Ibrahim (not pictured) to Newport and Matamoras elementary schools prior to a final show at Forked Run State Park. The band’s program showcased bluegrass repertoire, instrumentation, and history to approximately 500 students and Ohio residents.
