Tanya Sparks serves as Recruitment and Admissions Coordinator for the School of Music. She holds a Bachelor of Music degree with a concentration in Music Industry from James Madison University where her primary instrument was flute. She was a four-year member and flute section leader of “Virginia’s Finest,” the Marching Royal Dukes. Prior to coming to The Ohio State University, she was Manager of Artistic Administration for the Nashville Symphony and then Director of Artistic Planning for the Charlotte (NC) Symphony. In these orchestra management roles, she programmed classical, educational and holiday concerts, took part in recording and commissioning projects, and managed large symphony choruses. She has worked with world renowned musicians Yo-Yo Ma, Lang Lang, James Galway, Itzhak Perlman, Krzysztof Penderecki and Eric Whitacre, among many others.
