Clarinet Academy 2025

The four-day Clarinet Academy provides high school clarinetists with a unique opportunity to develop as musicians; engage with peers; work with Ohio State faculty, clarinet students and alumni; and enjoy the college experience on campus. Activities include private lessons, master classes, performing as soloists and in coached chamber groups, and as part of the Ohio State ClariNetwork clarinet choir.

Clarinet Academy registration is closed.

NOTE — The registration/payment form works best on a computer (PC or Mac).
MAC USERS — use Chrome, not Safari.

STEP 2 Permission Forms. 3–5 day after you register and pay, parents/guardians and participants will receive permission forms via DocuSign shortly after registration is complete. All forms must be returned by the DocuSign deadline in order to participate.

STEP 3Submit a video

Note that this is NOT an audition to get into the camp

Having a performance sample from each student, in advance, will assist us in getting to know our attendees' playing level so that we can form strong chamber ensembles and offer a meaningful musical experience.

Before June 7, students are asked to submit an “audition” recording — audio or video (video preferred) — 1 to 3 minutes in length. You can do this simply with your smartphone. Be sure that the sound is clear.

Your performance may be an ensemble work, solo, or any work/etude, band, orchestra or chamber excerpt of your choice. If you wish to be considered for the Solo Night recital, you may submit a performance of the solo you wish to perform. We also ask that you include a major scale of your choice, and chromatic scale (optional)

  • Step 1 — Complete this brief questionnaire that will tell us about your recording.
  • Step 2 — Record your video (preferred) or audio performance. Accompanied or unaccompanied is fine.

  • Step 3 — Post your audition as an UNLISTED VIDEO on YouTube (instructions below), or upload to a file-sharing platform such as OneDrive or Dropbox.
  • Step 4 — Send an email, with the link to your file, to Professor Caroline Hartig at hartig.15@osu.edu.
Be sure to include your full name in your email so that we can match it with your registration submission.
