Meagan Gaskill joined the School of Music faculty in autumn 2025. She previously completed her DMA and MM in flute performance as well as an MA in music theory at Ohio State, where she received a Fellowship Award and served as a graduate teaching associate in music theory, aural training, and flute. She is an experienced and passionate pedagogue with a Graduate Certificate in College and University Teaching. At Ohio State, she teaches courses in the undergraduate music theory and aural training sequence. She also has an active private studio in Columbus, Ohio, where she teaches flute and voice; in addition, she serves as an instructor of flute, voice, ensembles, and piano for Ohio State’s Community Music School. She has received several awards for her teaching, including Outstanding Graduate Associate in Music Theory (2025) and Woodwinds (2023) from Ohio State, Top 10% Tutor from Wyzant Tutoring (2019, 2020), and a Leadership in Mentoring Award (2019) from Pacific Lutheran University. Her research areas include timbre, pedagogy, repertoire for flute and voice, and Colombian flute repertoire. 

Gaskill is an active flutist and soprano, performing in Ohio and nationally. She is the founding flutist of Zephyr Chamber Winds, and has performed with them as guest artists at several universities, including Campbellsville University, Muskingum University, and Lincoln Memorial University. The ensemble has presented at conferences including the North American Saxophone Alliance, and performs locally at venues including Highbanks Metro Park, Thurber House, The Wexner Medical Center, and The Wexner Center for the Arts. She also sings with the company for Opera Project Columbus, and is a substitute flutist with Worthington Chamber Orchestra and the Akron Symphony. She has won many performance awards and competitions including Ohio State’s DMA Concerto Competition (2024), Outstanding Graduate Performance in Woodwinds at Ohio State (2022), First Place in the Central Ohio Flute Association Young Artist Competition (2021), Ohio State’s Undergraduate/Master’s Concerto Competition (2021), Third Place in the Wisconsin Flute Festival Collegiate Artist Competition (2019), and Pacific Lutheran University’s Concerto Competition (2018). She has also performed with the Professional (2021) and Collegiate (2017) Flute Choirs of the National Flute Association. Her primary flute teachers include Katherine Borst Jones, Jill Felber, Dr. Jennifer Rhyne, and Kay Lloyd.
