Concert Attendance Expectations and Opportunities

Concert Attendance Expectation

The School of Music expects all music majors to attend and support the performances and scholarly presentations by their peers and faculty in the School of Music. But why stop there when you can stretch beyond your own musical instrument, style, and discipline and embrace the musical diversity and performances that are available throughout the community.

Refer often to the School of Music Event Calendar for performances by student ensembles, faculty and guest artists, the Lectures in Musicology Series and other events. Students should attend these events regularly.

Special note for the 20212022 academic year
The concert attendance expectations remain an important part of a comprehensive education in the School of Music. We recognize that attending concerts in person may be different this year, in accordance with university safety policies related to COVID–19. We encourage students to seek multiple ways to listen and engage with quality performances.

Attend concerts and livestream presentations that will be offered throughout the year. Listen to WOSU Classical 101 daily. Follow our Columbus arts partners as they offer performances both virtually and socially-distanced, in person. NOTE — the Columbus Performing Arts details below reflect “pre-pandemic” information. Check websites and social media for up-to-date information from our various arts partners.
