Jury Evaluation Form
The jury evaluation process is initiated by the student. The evaluation form is found in Music Major Resources.
Student Recitals
The student recital process requires consultation with the instructor as well as the instructor's approval for several steps of the process. The scheduling process begins in the semester prior to the semester of the student's recital. In approximately Week #10 of each semester, students and faculty receive an email notice that the recital scheduling window is open for the following semester — according to a hierarchy based on degree program, class rank, instrument, etc.
The Recital Process and forms are found in Music Major Resources.
Additional Academic Resources
Event Management
Faculty/Guest Artist Performances and Planning
Specialty performance opportunities for students and faculty are found at the link above under Community Resources.
Among them are the Faculty/Guest Artist Series and the Faculty Collage (Autumn). Visit those pages for the scheduling process and performance guidelines.
Performance Preparation
All performances require stage preparation. The Production Team balances many events per week.
No later than ONE (1) MONTH prior to your performance, complete and submit the appropriate Production Needs web form.
Hosting a guest artist? Share the form link well in advance so that they can provide the stage needs for their recital.
Note: These forms are not for student recitals.
Request Audio Recording Services information by emailing Tim Donel.
Studio Recitals
"Studio Recitals" are public performances presented by a School of Music studio (e.g. Trombone, Guitar, Flute) outside of their regularly-scheduled 11:30 a.m. studio/departmental classes. They may also include combined-studio chamber ensembles (e.g. Strings). These performances are scheduled according to a specific policy and receive a limited amount of stage crew and promotional support.
- Registered student organizations (e.g. Buckeye Trombones, CellOhio, etc.) are subject to School of Music Student Organization event policies.
Outreach Event Resource Management
Outreach Events (specialty days such as String Day, Flute Day; festivals; camps; etc.) are scheduled during the School of Music calendar-build process in January. As part of our ongoing efforts to promote sustainable practices and responsible stewardship of resources, the School of Music has adopted a comprehensive operating model aimed at improving how we manage space, staffing and labor expenses.
Hosting A School Visit?
Faculty members hosting a school group to visit a class or rehearsal, or hosting a youth performance group, please follow this process to ensure a successful visit for all.
Step 1 — Request to schedule additional space(s) at least 6 weeks in advance.
Once approved, follow the remaining procedures:
Faculty Requesting Group Student Absence
Music faculty responsible for a student activity that conflicts with regularly scheduled classes are asked to submit this form a minimum of four weeks prior to the activity.
Event Signage and Instructions
Signage is an important component of any public event. Well-placed signs with clear messaging provide a comfortable and less confusing experience for the visitor — especially prospective students and parents.
The school stocks a collection of signs that are available to faculty, staff and production crew to support concerts, outreach and admissions events. These signs are available for your event, upon request.
