  • BA and MA, Piano Performance, IAU, Tehran, Iran

Aida Nadafian, a PhD student in music education, grew up in an artistic Persian family who encouraged her to begin studying the piano and singing techniques at an early age. She pursued her musical passion in the academic area, earning a Bachelor of Arts in music and Master of Arts in piano performance at the IAU of Tehran, Iran.

In 2018, after 15 years of teaching music and conducting children’s choir and orchestra, she designed a new musical instrument called Dastan. Dastan is a combination of both Eastern and Western musical elements that are typically used as the student performance target appliance. It enables people of all ages to efficiently learn music and also localizes musical concepts in order to bring students closer to their traditional art and culture. Nadafian has also published a children’s music instruction book that explains music theory and improves children's developmental and psychological aspects.

Sharing the benefits of music with children with disabilities is the golden goal for which she is striving. As such, she collaborated with The Research Center of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences of Mashhad Medical University and Pezhvak Audiometry Center, focusing on children's psychological disorders (such as ADHD) and hearing impairment (those with cochlear implants, for example). Nadafian attempts to highlight the importance of music among the Persian population and to guide individuals with disabilities to increase their quality of life through music.
