Larissa Mulder is a Master of Arts/PhD student in Ethnomusicology and a graduate teaching associate. She graduated in 2019 from Trinity Christian College, where she received a Bachelor of Arts in music and education. In previous years, Larissa has presented and published research on Ecuadorian pasillo and its influence on Ecuadorian national identity, as well as folk music in the 1960s, as a platform for social rights messages focusing on the works of Joni Mitchell and Buffy Sainte-Marie. Her current research at Ohio State focuses on women’s roles in the practice of performed lament in traditional Irish song, considering gender roles in traditional versus modern music and global connections to women in lament.
