David Huron is Emeritus Academy Professor and former Arts and Humanities Distinguished Professor in the School of Music, where he taught from 1998 to his retirement in 2019. Throughout this time he was also an affiliate faculty with the Center for Cognitive Science, later, the Center for Cognitive and Brain Sciences. Prof. Huron was the founder and director of the Cognitive and Systematic Musicology Laboratory. Over the course of his career he produced some 180 scholarly publications. He supervised a string of successful graduate students and post-doctoral fellows and taught empirical research methods to nearly 100 visiting music faculty and scholars. Prof. Huron has delivered over 400 lectures and presentations in 26 countries, including 32 keynote conference addresses.

Dr. Huron received a number of awards over the course of his career, including lifetime achievement awards from both the Society for Music Theory and the Society for Music Perception and Cognition.
