Ballade for Alto Flute, Flugelhorn and Piano was commissioned by Therese Wacker and Kevin Eisensmith, who coordinated a consortium that included Katherine Borst Jones and Timothy Leasure. The piece was premiered on November 18, 2019 at Indiana University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Wacker received her DMA in flute performance in 2000 from The Ohio State University. Tonight’s performance will be an Ohio première.

An Itsy Bitsy Fantasie for flute, viola and harp by Stephen Main was commissioned by Jeanne Norton for COSMOS — Katherine Borst Jones, flute; Mary E. M. Harris, viola; Jeanne Norton, harp. Written in 2019, but put on hold due to the COVID pandemic, this work receives its World Première at tonight's performance. Conceived as a piece for both children and adults, it is based on the familiar nursery rhyme.
