Symphony Orchestra Auditions

Auditions for Autumn 2021

Our ensembles are committed to providing meaningful and educational experiences. Rehearsals and performances will return to pre-COVID practices (with possible exceptions) and are subject to change as health and safety guidelines evolve throughout the academic year.

We are excited to make music together again!

Auditions are open to all enrolled students at Ohio State regardless of major.

ATTENTION! For eligible non-major string players only: If you have schedule conflicts with the rehearsals on Wednesdays, you are still strongly encouraged to audition for the Symphony Orchestra. Once you are accepted, please contact Prof. Miriam Burns to discuss an alternative arrangement for the conflict.

Audition details and excerpts are provided below. String auditions are evaluated by conducting and string faculty members.

Auditions for Autumn semester will be video recorded by each auditionee, and submitted for evaluation according to the procedures outlined below. Auditions will be evaluated by conducting and string faculty members. Recordings are due by 5 p.m. on Friday August 13.
