Mahler's Ravishing Replies to Lyric Poetry: the Lieder eines fahrenden Gesellen and Rückert Lieder
A Lecture-Recital
A song won’t block a bullet or feed a child. But Gustav Mahler knew hunger and racism, and wrote Lieder spanning the widest range of feeling — and offering consolation in the face of pain. Sopranos Katherine Rohrer and Ohio State alumna Kimberly Monzón, collaborating with pianist Jiung Yoon and musicologist/presenter Arved Ashby, invite you to join them as they perform two of Mahler's most penetrating song sets and discuss this music's most intricate poetic nuances and musical secrets.
Access the digital Lecture-recital program before, during or after the presentation. No paper programs will be distributed.
