Timothy Myers, principal trombone of the Saint Louis Symphony Orchestra, presents a recital Saturday evening in collaboration with Jiung Yoon, piano; Lucas Kaspar, bass trombone and The Ohio State University Trombone Ensemble conducted by Jennifer Olis. This event is free and open to the public.

Works by contemporary composers are featured on this program. Theme and Variations, Martin Kennedy; Phantasie, Caleb Burhans; Four Sketches, William Martin; Sonata “At the end of the century,” Juraj Filas; Two Songs of Emily Dickinson, Michael Hennagin/arr. Gary Burch; Preludes 6 and 16 op. 34, Dmitri Shostakovich/arr. Douglas Yeo (with Lucas Kaspar, bass trombone). O Moro, Lasso, al mio duolo, Carlo Gesualdo/arr. Peter Myers; Crucifixus (a 8), Antonio Lotti/arr. Philip Brink; Aria and Dance, Thom Ritter George (with Trombone Ensemble).

Timothy Myers has held the Mr. and Mrs. William R. Orthwein Principal Trombone Chair of the Saint Louis Symphony Orchestra since 1997. Myers first joined the SLSO in 1983. He has performed as a soloist with the Saint Louis Symphony and the Aspen Music Festival. Mr. Myers has also performed with the Chicago Symphony, the Boston Symphony, the Atlanta Symphony, the Minnesota Orchestra, Summit Brass, and the Bay Brass. He is a founding member of the Trombones of the Saint Louis Symphony and is co-founder of the Saint Louis Low Brass Collective. He has taught at the Aspen Music Festival, the University of Missouri at Columbia and currently teaches trombone at Washington University in Saint Louis. A graduate of Northwestern University, Mr. Myers studied with Frank Crisafulli.
