The concert features the consortium premiere of Mackey’s Places we can no longer go and his 2022 work A deep reverberation fills with stars. Places we can no longer go is a deeply personal work for soprano and wind ensemble depicting his mother’s struggle with Alzheimer’s Disease, presented in reverse chronology. Douglas Scharre, MD, director of the Division of Cognitive Neurology at the Wexner Medical Center, will provide information on the current state of diagnosis and research. The full program includes works by Walter Piston, Claude Debussy and Adam Schoenberg. Russel C. Mikkelson, conductor; Dustin Ferguson and Alex Mondragon, guest conductors. Pre-concert talk at 7:30 p.m. with John Mackey, Lindsay Kesselman and Russel Mikkelson. This event is free and open to the public. No ticket required. GETTING HERE While the new building for Theatre, Film and Media Arts remains under construction, the north side of the Timashev Music Building remains closed.  Park in the Ohio Union South Garage (open to visitors 24/7), walk north along College Rd. to enter the south doors of the Timashev Music Building. Weigel Auditorium is located on the second floor at the far south end of the building. An open stairway located just inside the south doors leads to the hall. If an elevator is needed, travel through the Music Commons at the south end of the building, to the hallway to the right of the restrooms.
