Wind Symphony with Guest : Michael Sachs, Trumpet

The Wind Symphony presents "Looking Back, Listening Forward" featuring Michael Sachs, principal trumpet of the Cleveland Orchestra, as soloist on a Voice, a Messenger by Pulitzer Prize-winner Aaron Jay Kernis. The work was jointly commissioned by the New York Philharmonic and the Big Ten Band Directors Association. The Wind Symphony and Mr. Sachs will reprise this performance at the College Band Directors National Association North Central Division Convention, Ball State University, Muncie, Indiana on Saturday, March 1.

Also programmed are Parthia in Dis, Ignace Pleyel, critical edition by Ohio State alumnus John Oelrich; Tunbridge Fair, Walter Piston; Colonial Song, Percy Grainger; and a Consortium premiere performance of John Mackey's 2012 work, The Frozen Cathedral.
