Works of Bach, Paganini, Ysaye, Feurzeig
Kia-Hui Tan, associate professor of violin, will present the fourth in a series of six recitals, begun autumn 2009, of the complete solo violin works of J. S. Bach, Niccolo Paganini and Eugene Ysaye.
Selections include Bach's Partita No. 3 in E Major, Ysaye's Sonata Opus 27, and six Paganini Caprices, opus 1: No. 1, Andante; No. 17, Sostenuto-Andante; No. 8, Maestoso; No. 19, Lento-Allegro assai; No. 14, Moderato and No. 23, Posato-Minore.
A contemporary work, Sarabande sur le nom "Eugene Ysaye," from David Feurzeig's Sonata (2004-5), will be a highlight of this program.

Call for scores - Kia-Hui Tan Solo Violin Composition Competition: Asian Inspirations. Submit scores by October 15, 2012. Prizes will be awarded and winning works will be performed by Kia-Hui Tan at the Society for Composers, Inc. (SCI) National Conference in conjunction with the Contemporary Music Festival hosted by the School of Music on February 13-16, 2013.
