Ohio State Marching Band Clinic Digital Handbook

Welcome from the Ohio State Marching Band Clinic Director

Dear Marching Band Clinic Participants and Parents:

Welcome to The Ohio State University! The Summer Clinic is one of my favorite programs of the year, and I always look forward to welcoming energetic and talented high school musicians, like you, from across the country for a weekend of marching and music-making. Just by choosing to participate in this clinic, I know how important marching band is to you. It is a very special activity that instills a sense of pride, discipline and musicianship in us, while creating lasting memories and lifelong friendships along the way.

As you contemplate your next step after high school, I hope that you will continue to enjoy your pursuit of marching band at the collegiate level — and I hope that you will consider joining us here at Ohio State. Even after this weekend is long over, please do not hesitate to reach out to us to let us know how we can assist you on your musical journey. After all, you are now members of our extended Ohio State band family, and we are here to help you however we can.

Go Bucks!

STUDENT DRIVERS — Students who drive to campus should plan ahead regarding parking.

Please remember that there is no free parking on campus at Ohio State, so do not leave your car unattended — even for a few minutes.

PARKING ON CAMPUS — Students should refer to the CampusParc website for options to purchase Surface Lot Day Parking Passes available for $10.75/day (a significant savings over hourly parking). Create a user account at osu.campusparc.com. Click “login” at the upper right corner of the home page, then click “Visitor” and create a new account.

We do not recommend parking vehicles overnight, as this requires additional parking permits.

Some parking spaces are in “Pay by Plate” surface lots. Day permits are not valid in marked paid hourly spaces, so please be mindful of the signage and requirements for where you park.

The nearest parking garage to the Steinbrenner Band Center is the Lane Ave. Garage. Garages are the most expensive option for parking.

The School of Music is not liable for any parking fines a student receives when parking on or near campus or for any vehicular damage while on campus.

Public Performance and Parking — for families and guests

The program will end with a final demonstration performance on Sunday, July 14, at 4 p.m. at the Lincoln Tower Practice Field just south of the stadium. The performance is free and open to the public. Spectator seating is available on the grassy hill west of the practice field.

Family and friends attending the final demonstration performance should park in the Northeast Stadium lot.

  • Please do not use the “Pay by Plate” machine when parking for the final performance. We have reserved the northeast stadium lot for this event as a courtesy to our clinic students and their families.

Last Day Check-out: Sunday, July 14 following the final performance at 4 p.m.

At the conclusion of the concert, anyone who needs to return an instrument will head back to the band center to do so and then residents will head to the dorm for check-out/key return.

LOST KEY CHARGE — Due to the need for building security for summer guests and student residents during the academic year, students will be billed if their dorm swipe card is lost. The cost to replace a lost swipe card is $15. All swipe cards must be turned in to Conference Housing  at the conclusion of the program. Students will be assessed a $15 fee if a swipe card is not returned at time of checkout.
