The Ohio State Percussion Ensemble and guests are pleased to present a John Cage "Musicircus" at the Wexner Center. A musicircus is an overlapping musical collage or "happening" presented in a live surround-sound environment, far removed from a traditional concert format. Audience members and gallery attendees are free to move around the entire performance space at their leisure, as the performances will be situated in multiple locations. This program includes over twelve chamber compositions by the iconic American composer John Cage, to be performed over the course of a one-hour timeline; guests from the School of Music as well as multiple recent percussion alumni are featured.
Specific pieces to be performed include:
- Second Construction
- Imaginary Landscape No. 2
- Amores
- Dance Music for Elfrid Ide
- Third Construction
- Forever and Sunsmell (featuring Sadiyah Babatunde, voice)
- Living Room Music
- Composed Improvisation for One-sided Drums with or without Jangles
