Saxophone Camp 2025 Digital Handbook

Welcome from the Saxophone Camp Directors

Dear Saxophonists,

Welcome to the 9th Annual Ohio State Saxophone Camp!

We’re thrilled to have you all on campus for what is sure to be a fantastic musical experience! You’ll meet new friends, hear and perform exciting new music, learn new ideas and skills, and enjoy the Ohio State campus experience. Keep in mind that being a good musician takes discipline, focus, practice and a positive attitude. Let’s plan this week to work together, learn from each other, grow as musicians and have fun.

Have a great time, and let’s celebrate the saxophone together!

Auditions

As part of your registration — BEFORE MAY 30 — students are asked to submit an “audition” video. You can do this simply with your smartphone. Be sure that the sound and picture are clear.

This is NOT an audition to get into the camp. Having a performance sample from each student, in advance, helps us get to know our attendees' playing level so that we can form strong chamber ensembles and offer a meaningful musical experience.

You will find instructions on the Saxophone Camp page.

DEADLINE: Friday, May 30

QUESTIONS? Email Professor Torres at torres.173@osu.edu.

Students will be assessed a $15 fee if a swipe card is not returned at time of checkout.

What to Expect at Saxophone Camp

We will begin each day with group fundamentals and warm-up exercises to prepare for chamber music rehearsals. Before lunch, everyone will participate in improvisation class. Afternoons will be used for the large Saxophone Orchestra to prepare for Wednesday’s concert; in the evenings, after dinner, everyone will have opportunities to enjoy exciting performances by faculty and staff.
