Course Description
Week One on campus • Two weeks in Vienna
This course will immerse students in an intensive artistic, historical and cultural experience of Vienna. Students will learn about the rise of the Habsburg Empire, and its social and cultural influence on Europe. We will follow the lives, walk the streets, and visit the landmarks of artists whose poetry, visual arts and music made Vienna a cultural center of the world.
ATTEND:
- The Concordia Ball, includes 2 ballroom dance classes
- Mozart’s Le Nozze di Figaro at the Wiener Staatsoper
- Wiener Philharmoniker performs Berlioz's Symphonie Fantastique and Debussy's Trois Nocturnes
OBSERVE:
- Rehearsal of the Wiener Sangerknäben (Vienna Boys' Choir)
- Classes at the Universität fur Musik und darstellende Kunst (University for Music and Performing Arts)
TRAVEL to Eisenstaat, to tour the Esterhazy Palace
SEE major historical and cultural sights
Ohio State musicians will perform a recital at the U.S. Embassy's Amerika Haus and will attend master classes.
