The Sacred in Song: Doubt to Belief
Faculty artists Helen Allen, soprano, and C. Andrew Blosser, tenor, present a program of sacred selections, in collaboration with guest pianist, Philip Everingham.
Beginning with the “piercing dissonances” of Hugo Wolf’s Geistliche Lieder from his Spanisches Liederbuch, the program wends its way through the 19th and 20th centuries traveling from Austria to England, France and America. Themes of guilt, pain and redemption continue to be explored in the works of Vaughan Williams, Britten, Messiaen and Primosch.
This event is free and open to the public. No ticket required.
