Outreach Events — Resources and Costs
As part of our ongoing efforts to promote sustainable practices and responsible stewardship of resources, the School of Music has adopted a comprehensive operating model aimed at improving how we manage space, staffing and labor expenses.
This model reflects a commitment to living within our means and ensuring that our shared resources are used efficiently and equitably. One key aspect of this approach involves departments and studios contributing to basic expenses associated with elective events such as outreach programs, conferences, and other non-core activities.
What this means for faculty:
- When planning events that fall outside of regular academic programming, please anticipate and budget for associated costs (e.g., custodial services, space setup, staffing).
- These expenses may be covered in part by registration fees or departmental funds, with the goal of minimizing reliance on central resources for elective activities.
- We encourage early coordination with staff to ensure all logistical and financial needs are addressed proactively.
We appreciate your partnership in this effort and your continued dedication to enriching our community through meaningful events and initiatives. If you have questions or need support in planning upcoming activities, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
