Chorale will sing John Corigliano's "Fern Hill" based on Dylan Thomas' poem, and J. S. Bach's Cantata 23, Du wahrer Gott und Davids Sohn.Lianna Wimberly Williams, mezzo soprano, is featured soloist in "Fern Hill." Cantata soloists include Chelsea Mondesir, soprano; Ms. Williams, mezzo; C. Andrew Blosser, tenor; and Jeff MacMullen, baritone. Faculty and guest instrumentalists include Robert Firdman and William Manley, violins; Dee Dee Fancher, viola; Mark Rudoff, cello; Tom Wells, continuo; Casey L. Cook, organ; P. Bailey Sorton and Robert Sorton, oboes. Robert J. Ward, conductor; Scott McCoy, associate conductor; Kristina Caswell MacMullen, guest conductor; Casey L. Cook, accompanist.Wind Symphony performs David Maslanka's Symphony No. 4 (1993). The composer writes, "The central driving force [of this work] is the spontaneous rise of the impulse to shout for the joy of life...The response in the voice of the Earth is the answering shout of thanksgiving, and the shout of praise...Out of this, the hymn tune Old Hundredth, several other hymn tunes...and original melodies which are hymn-like in nature, form the backbone of Symphony No. 4."  Russel C.
