The ensembles' joint concert focuses on themes of peace. Conductors Colin Knoth (University Chorus) and Robert J. Ward (Chorale); Casey L. Cook, collaborative pianist. Christopher R. Dent, assistant conductor and doctoral conducting student; guest Jodi Baxter, Department of Speech and Hearing Science.
University Chorus presents selections specifically with children in mind. Each day, it seems, we are told of children across the world who are hurting, starving, and even being killed. Many children have lost too quickly their innocence and been robbed of the essence of what it means to be a child — laughing, dancing, playing, singing, and experiencing the beauty of the world free of worry. We offer music that promotes peace for children who are suffering, with the hope that those responsible for their well-being might learn to see the world through the eyes of a child.
Chorale's program includes Viadana's Exsultate, justi; "How Lovely are the Messengers" (from St. Paul), Mendelssohn; "Imagine," John Lennon/arr. Kirby Shaw; "Tuttarana", Esmail; "A Silence Haunts Me," Jake Runestad.
This concert is free and open to the public. No ticket required.
Livestream broadcast begins at 2:30 p.m.
All events are subject to change.
