Hudson Diógenes Müller (Maravilha–SC, Brazil) is a Brazilian saxophonist, educator, and music researcher currently residing in the United States. His career is distinguished by versatility and artistic excellence, with extensive experience in both classical and popular music as a soloist, chamber musician, orchestral performer, and member of diverse instrumental ensembles.
In autumn 2025, Müller begins pursuing the Doctor of Musical Arts in saxophone performance at The Ohio State University, serving as a graduate teaching assistant under the guidance of Professor Dr. Torres.
Müller’s academic credentials include two master’s degrees — one in Musicology and Creative Process from Paraná State University (Curitiba, Brazil), with a dissertation on klezmer music in Brazil; and another in saxophone performance from East Texas A&M, where he served as a graduate teaching assistant conducting the saxophone choir and assisting the jazz ensembles. He also holds two bachelor’s degrees — one in music education and another in saxophone performance, as well as a specialization in music education from Paraná State University.
Prior to his experience in the United States, Müller held a faculty position as adjunct professor from 2016–2023 at Paraná State University, where he taught wind instruments (saxophone, flute and trumpet) and courses in popular music performance, with emphasis on traditional bands, Brazilian music, and klezmer music. From 2013–2023, he also served as a classical saxophone professor at the Maestro Paulino Alves Conservatory of Music, where he created and led the Conserva’s Big Band.
As a performer, Müller has attended prominent events, such as the Great Plains Saxophone Workshop at the University of Oklahoma, the North American Saxophone Alliance (NASA) National Conference 2024 (Oklahoma), the Regional Conference 2025 (Missouri), and the Texas Music Educators Association (TMEA) convention. With the From Paraná Duo (tuba and saxophone), he has performed at regional tuba/euphonium conferences, including SERTEC (Tennessee) and MWRTEC (Ohio).
In the popular music field, Müller has enjoyed long-standing collaborations with ensembles such as Klezmorim Curitiba (2009–2020), with which he toured internationally in Australia (2014); the Bananeira Brass Band (2015–2023), with which he released an EP and a full album; and the Big Belas Band (2011–2023), with three albums released. His artistic output includes DVDs, albums, numerous live recordings, and performances at festivals throughout Brazil.
Müller’s distinctions include third prize at the 10th Pan-American Classical Saxophone Competition in Mexico City (2018) and a 2022 Latin Grammy nomination in the category of Best Album Graphic Design with the project Feira Livre by the Bananeira Brass Band.
Through a career that bridges performance, education, and research, Hudson Müller has established himself as a committed artist and educator, contributing significantly to both the Brazilian and international musical scenery.
