Join us for an evening of song presented by The Ohio State University Chorus and Women's Glee Club. Colin Knoth (UC) and Jordan Saul (WGC), conductors. Casey L. Cook (UC) and Diana Chubak (WGC), collaborative pianists.
Women's Glee Club opens with contemporary works in various languages. Kafal Sviri, Traditional Bulgarian/arr. Petyr Liondev; Ave Maria, Cecilia McDowall; A Red, Red (Noun), Timothy Takach, and evolved air by faculty composer Tina Tallon.
The ensemble sings three languages in one piece: Emmanuel Séjourné's Book of Gems, voiced for SSAA by Jordan Saul. The Pendulum Duo, faculty percussionists Susan Powell and Joseph Krygier, enhance the work.
University Chorus performs Sunrise Mass by Norwegian composer Ola Gjeilo, with a student string ensemble, and a film produced and edited by student artist Hailee Franklin. The composer states, “The reason I used English titles for each movement in this setting of the Latin Mass has to do with the initial idea behind Sunrise Mass. I wanted the musical journey...to evolve from transparent and spacey to something earthy and warm; from nebulous and pristine...to ultimately solid groundedness — as a metaphor for human development from child to adult, or as a spiritual journey.”
This concert is free and open to the public. No ticket required.
Livestream broadcast begins at 7:30 p,m.
All events are subject to change.
