Black Music Matters

As part of the series “Black Studies Matter,” the Department of African American and African Studies will host a webinar that focuses on Black music; its role and importance at a time of heightened racial consciousness and pronounced social injustice; and its presence, status and expression at Ohio State.

The panel will include Professor Juliet White-Smith, a world-class violist, master teacher and faculty member in the School of Music; Dr. Mark Lomax II, a critically-acclaimed composer, recording artist and drummer, and lecturer in the School of Music; and Dr. Jason Rawls, a trailblazing hip-hop artist/producer, educator and lecturer in the Department of African American and African Studies.

The discussion will be moderated by Dr. Ryan Skinner, Associate Professor, School of Music and the Department of African American and African Studies.

Register today at go.osu.edu/blackmusicmatters.

The webinar series at AAAS is free and open to the public. Live closed captioning will be provided.
