Joe Ulmer is a music educator and woodwind artist serving as a graduate teaching associate under the Music Education faculty. Originally from Cincinnati, Ohio, Ulmer developed a passion for teaching early, in his enjoyment working with his students and mentors. His mission is to define the artistry and to unlock the inner potential of each of his students. In 2023, Ulmer graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music Education from the University of Cincinnati College–Conservatory of Music (CCM). He continued his career as an adjunct instructor in Dayton Public Schools at Stivers School for the Arts as a woodwind and jazz pedagogy specialist.
Ulmer is an accomplished instrumentalist in the Cincinnati/Dayton area as a live woodwind performer and recording artist. Specializing in jazz, R&B, soul, and pop music, Ulmer has performed with numerous ensembles, stage productions, and performing groups in the local music, and has performed on many released EPs and albums from different artists. Joe Ulmer has worked as both a sideman and also as a bandleader of his own various live and recorded projects.
