Wayne Kreml is a freelance trombonist and educator with a focus on community impact. His work has included acting as a substitute musician in professional symphonies across Indiana and Ohio. In addition to performing, he is an avid educator with a private studio based in Columbus, Ohio. 

Kreml is the outreach manager and co-founder of Waypoint Music Camps: a yearly brass camp for young students across the Midwest. He has served as their instructor of trombone and euphonium since its original camp in 2021. Through Waypoint, he helped commission works by marginalized composers, provided mindfulness-based special topic presentations to young musicians, and coached student-led chamber groups.

In 2025, Wayne Kreml was diagnosed with trigeminal neuralgia (TN), a condition which causes severe pain in half of the face. In 2026, he was awarded a Fellowship to pursue doctoral research on solutions for brass players with TN at The Ohio State University.

Kreml received a Bachelor of Music degree from the Eastman School of Music, a Master of Music at the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music, and is currently pursuing a Doctor of Musical Arts at Ohio State. At Jacobs, he was a two-time finalist for the Innovation Competition, and while at Eastman he was a recipient of the Steve Witser Award for Excellence and the Linda Muise Student Life Award. His teachers include Larry Zalkind, Peter Ellefson, and Dr. Brittany Lasch.
