Alexander Gonzalez is pursuing a Doctor of Musical Arts degree at Ohio State. His responsibilities include guest conducting the various wind-based ensembles, working with The Ohio State University Marching Band and Athletic Band, and assisting the undergraduate instrumental conducting course. Prior to arriving in Ohio, he was teaching music in Colorado, Wisconsin and Florida. Gonzalez received a Bachelor of Music Education degree with a minor in philosophy from the University of Florida where he studied conducting with David Waybright, John Watkins and Archie Birkner IV and trumpet with Joyce Davis. Gonzalez then went on to receive a master’s degree in wind conducting from the University of Wisconsin–Madison, where he studied with Scott Teeple, James Smith, Beverly Taylor and John DeMain. When not participating in music, Alexander loves to spend time with his wife, Haley, and two dogs, Dexter and Harriet.
