Emily Foster, currently serving as a graduate teaching associate in the musicology area, is pursuing a Master of Music in piano performance and a Master of Arts in musicology at The Ohio State University. Prior to coming to Ohio State on a University Fellowship in 2022, she earned a Bachelor of Music in piano performance from the Cincinnati College–Conservatory of Music, where she studied with Dror Biran. While in Cincinnati, Emily won top prizes in Matinee Musicale’s Nancy F. Walker Scholarship Competition. She is also a two-time recipient of a Three Arts Scholarship, a prize awarded to women pursuing arts degrees in the greater Cincinnati area.

On the musicology side, Emily’s article “Fallibilism in the Family: Interpreting Literature Through Discourse” was published in Queen City Writers Journal in 2019. Today, her research interests include classical music in American popular culture and the piano music of Clara Schumann.
