Jacob Cauley is a percussion educator, arranger, and performer from Cypress, Texas. He has a bachelor’s degree in music education from Texas Christian University, as well as a master’s in percussion performance from Texas Tech University. He is currently pursuing his doctorate in percussion performance at The Ohio State University. 

At TCU, Cauley had the opportunity to work with Brian West, Jeffrey Hodge, and Joey Carter. He performed with a variety of ensembles, including the TCU Wind Symphony, Symphony Orchestra, Percussion Orchestra, and the Horned Frog Marching Band. Some of these performances include a Texas Music Educators Association (TMEA) performance with the TCU Wind Symphony in 2020, two trips to the Percussive Arts Society International Convention (PASIC) with the TCU Percussion Orchestra in 2019 and 2022, and a halftime performance at the 2022–2023 College Football National Championship with the Horned Frog Marching Band. 

At Texas Tech, Cauley studied with Lisa Rogers and Michael Mixtacki. He performed with the TTU Symphonic Wind Ensemble, Symphony Orchestra, Percussion Ensemble, Steel Band “Apocalypso Now,” and Afro-Cuban Ensemble. These include a TMEA performance as principal percussionist with the TTU Symphonic Wind Ensemble in 2025 as well as the 2024 EDETA Arts Percussion Festival in Lliria, Spain with “Apocalypso Now.” He was also a frequent performer with the Lubbock Symphony Orchestra. 

Cauley has performed with a range of WGI and DCI groups including Crossmen Indoor Winds, Guardians Drum and Bugle Corps, Crossmen Drum and Bugle Corps, and Cavaliers Drum and Bugle Corps. He has also seen success as a soloist, placing second in the PASIC 2022 I&E Keyboard Competition, first in the 2024 Great Plains International Marimba Competition (GPIMC), and first in the 2025 Texas Tech Concerto Competition. He has served as a front ensemble technician and private lesson teacher at numerous Texas schools, as well as a judge for marching competitions including the 2024 Westerner Marching Festival in Lubbock, TX. His article “A Survey of Selected Works for Solo Glockenspiel, 1994–2022” was published as the cover article for the June 2024 issue of Percussive Notes. 

Jacob Cauley lives in Columbus, Ohio with his wife, Megan, and their cat, Pluto.
