As part of the 49th Annual Ohio State Jazz Festival celebrating America’s musical art form, Jazz Club Night features guest artists, the Bobby Floyd Trio. This event is free and open to the public. No ticket required.
Bobby Floyd has performed extensively in the US, Canada, Europe and Japan. Touring events include major jazz festivals, concert halls, and numerous night clubs with Ray Charles, Jeff Tyzik, Chris Howes and Sarah Morrow.
In his hometown of Columbus, Ohio, Bobby has been a feature with the Columbus Jazz Orchestra, the Columbus Symphony, and ProMusica Chamber Orchestra, sharing the stage with Dionne Warwick, Doc Severinsen, Arturo Sandoval, Faye Robinson and many others. He has also appeared in a variety of performances opening for Spyro Gyra, Smokey Robinson, Stanley Clark and George Duke, as well as accompanying other artists like David “Fathead” Newman, Bobby Watson, Greg Osby and Billy Hart.
Bobby has completed three recordings: Interpretations, Setting the Standards, and Floyd’s Finest Gift. His next project, soon to be released, is a live performance recorded in Spain. Other accomplishments include recording and composing on several of Vince Andrews’ and Chris Howes’ projects. He has also recorded with Gerald Levert (Groove On) and Faye Robinson (Remembering Marian Anderson). Additionally, he is featured on a Rusty Bryant album, Rusty Rides Again, which received five stars in Downbeat magazine.
Bobby Floyd currently performs with his trio (Derek DiCenzo – bass/lead guitar, Reggie Jackson – drums), an immensely talented and entertaining group suited to a wide variety of special events and parties.

Wed., March 25: An event in Mershon Auditorium coincides with this School of Music performance. To avoid the higher-priced event parking fees in Arps Garage and Ohio Union North Garage, we recommend the Ohio Union South Garage.
- The South Garage (open to visitors 24/7) is located just south of the Timashev Music building, next to the Ohio Union. Walk north along College Rd. to enter the south doors of the Timashev Music Building.
Fri., March 27: Due to an event in Mershon Auditorium which coincides with this School of Music event, the CampusParc fee is $20 for all 3 garages — Arps Garage, Ohio Union North Garage, and Ohio Union South.
Two garage options:
Arps Garage (open to visitors M–F after 4 p.m. and on weekends) — located just north of the Timashev Music building.
- A good choice for events in the Timashev Recital Hall, just inside the north end of the building.
Ohio Union South Garage (open to visitors 24/7) — located just south of the Timashev Music building, next to the Ohio Union.
- A good choice for events in Weigel Auditorium, just inside the south end of the building, across from the Oval.
- The only choice for visitors M–F, before 4 p.m.
Weigel Auditorium is on the second floor, via a staircase in the south lobby.
- The elevator to Weigel Auditorium is in the back hallway, located behind the Music Commons.
