A Toast to Opera! brings together scenes from across the operatic repertoire, exploring the highs, lows, triumphs, and complications of all kinds of relationships.
The Ohio State Opera Theatre Fall Scenes program features works by Mozart, Offenbach, Lehár, and Sondheim. The party starts with a bang with the famous “Brindisi” from Verdi’s La Traviata, before we meet the beloved sisters Fiordiligi and Dorabella, the seemingly hopeless Pamina, the “will they or won’t they?” couple Hannah and Danilo, and so many other larger-than-life characters.
So pop the champagne, take your seat, and enjoy the party!
Directed by Skye Johnson, with Ed Bak at the piano; 18 graduate and undergraduate Ohio State vocal students comprise the ensemble which brings this delightful collection of operatic favorites to life!

Getting Here
An event in Mershon Auditorium coincides with the opera performance on FRIDAY, Nov. 6. To avoid the higher-priced event parking fees in Arps Garage and Ohio Union North Garage, we recommend the Ohio Union South Garage.
- The South Garage (open to visitors 24/7) is located just south of the Timashev Music building, next to the Ohio Union. Walk north along College Rd. to enter the south doors of the Timashev Music Building.
Two garage options:
Arps Garage (open to visitors M–F after 4 p.m. and on weekends) — located just north of the Timashev Music building.
- A good choice for events in the Timashev Recital Hall, just inside the north end of the building.
Ohio Union South Garage (open to visitors 24/7) — located just south of the Timashev Music building, next to the Ohio Union.
- A good choice for events in Weigel Auditorium, just inside the south end of the building, across from the Oval.
- The only choice for visitors M–F, before 4 p.m.
