As part of the 49th Annual Ohio State Jazz Festival, we welcome special guest artist Tia Fuller, saxophone, on Friday and Saturday evenings. The performances are free and open to the public. No ticket required.

The Ohio State Jazz Ensemble plays "Miles Ahead" and features headliner artist Tia Fuller, saxophone

The Jazz Ensemble performs Miles Ahead – Miles Davis and Gil Evans’ masterpiece, with guest soloists Anthony Stanco, trumpet and Miles Franklin Smith, flugelhorn. Special guest artist Tia Fuller is featured. Mike Smith, director.

Miles Franklin Smith graduated from Ohio State with a Bachelor of Music in Jazz Studies (2023); and graduated from Northern Illinois University with a Master of Music in Jazz (2025).

About Tia Fuller

When Grammy-nominated Mack Avenue recording artist, composer, and bandleader Tia Fuller picks up her saxophone, something amazing happens. Blending technical brilliance, melodic creativity, and the performing precision drawn from both her academic and stage experience, Fuller is a force to be reckoned with in the worlds of jazz, pop, R&B, and more. Currently, Fuller balances the worlds of performance and education, fulfilling a demanding schedule as both a busy touring and recording artist and a full-time professor at the Berklee College of Music in Boston. Getting Here

Friday., March 27: Due to a 7 p.m. event in Mershon Auditorium that coincides with this School of Music performance, we recommend parking in the Ohio Union South Garage to avoid higher-priced event parking fees in both the Arps and Ohio Union North garages starting at 4:30 p.m.

  • The South Garage (open to visitors 24/7) is located just south of the Timashev Music building, next to the Ohio Union. Walk north along College Rd. to enter the south doors of the Timashev Music Building.

Sat., March 28: Due to a 3 p.m. event in Mershon Auditorium that may coincide with this School of Music performance, we recommend parking in the Ohio Union South Garage to avoid higher-priced event parking fees in both the Arps and Ohio Union North garages starting at 11:30 a.m.

Directions and Parking

Two garage options:

Arps Garage (open to visitors M–F after 4 p.m. and on weekends) — located just north of the Timashev Music building. 

  • A good choice for events in the Timashev Recital Hall, just inside the north end of the building.

Ohio Union South Garage (open to visitors 24/7) — located just south of the Timashev Music building, next to the Ohio Union. 

  • A good choice for events in Weigel Auditorium, just inside the south end of the building, across from the Oval.
  • The only choice for visitors M–F, before 4 p.m.

Weigel Auditorium is on the second floor, via a staircase in the south lobby.

  • The elevator to Weigel Auditorium is in the back hallway, located behind the Music Commons.
