Hip Hop Festival guest O Sharp

DJ O Sharp

An authority in Hip Hop culture in practice and academically, DJ O Sharp is an influential entity in Columbus, Ohio and surrounding areas. His beginnings with disseminating his perspective on Hip Hop and its impact began in a recreation center, and has reached prominent universities in Ohio. His career as a DJ began in 1986, but the journey evolved through graffiti writing, b-boying and MCing, giving him a wide understanding and unique ability to guide people through the world through the Hip Hop lens.

With a working knowledge of the music industry established through his work with companies such as the recording label Polar Records, and a leadership role in the creation and management of the now-defunct online radio station Pulse Radio, O Sharp has been able to infuse those skill sets into his own companies. Fresh Elements is the agency he created to support educators and students in new ways to engage learning. His event production company, The Freshest Events, is the newest addition to the brand, serving niche entertainment needs in Columbus, Ohio. Whether it be night life or community projects that create space for families of all backgrounds to enjoy, O Sharp uses the culture of Hip Hop to create community, and brings all these experiences to any educational setting.

While not limiting the range of experience to the classroom, DJ O Sharp has been a performance mainstay in Ohio and surrounding areas whether it was a solo act or performing on large stages. Having been booked for multiple performances for the annual Summer614 concert series or for his own events such as The ReDO All Vinyl Day Party or Bump the Floor, both events were housed under his company The Freshest Events. DJ O Sharp has earned music production credits with providing the intro and outro to J Rawls' final solo album, Legacy. In May 2020, O Sharp entered the featured artist space with the creation of his group jazz/hip hop outing, Black Jelly Beanz. The album The Return is a collaboration with jazz genius Eddie Bayard and a front-facing jazz album with hip hop thinking. In his 25+ years of performing, DJ O Sharp has been called to be a featured and supporting artist in the Columbus, Ohio entertainment scene, and has come to the forefront of creating the culture of the 614 music scene.

Hip Hop Festival guest Mix Master Ice

Mix Master Ice

The legendary Maurice "Mix Master Ice" Bailey is a lyricist and scratch master from New York who currently resides in Columbus, Ohio. His world-renowned sound embraces his Harlem roots and the pulse of Brooklyn's budding hip hop culture during his childhood. DJ “Ice” first emerged in 1979, when Bailey felt the fire of the culture walking into his eighth-grade prom. It awakens his soul. However, it wasn't until he went to a DJ cipher in the Medgar Evers Projects, that he got his touch of the turntables.

He created a DJ crew with The Educated Rapper and submerged himself in hip hop culture. They later would add a few members and form a group called "Untouchable Force Organization" (UTFO). This group released five albums and blessed us with the unforgettable hip hop classics "Roxanne Roxanne" and "Leader Of The Pack." Some of the dopiest and most innovative scratching techniques still impacting history were brought to us by the hands of the Master himself, on these albums.

That love for culture and community embodies everything that Mix Master Ice touches. The Master never misses the opportunity to use his platform to educate and spread positivity. He is an Honorary member of many DJ Organizations, and in 2000 he was crowned Legend by being inducted into The TECHNICS DMC Hall of Fame. In 2022, the group UTFO was inducted into the National Hip Hop Museum (NHHM) during a celebration in Atlanta, Georgia.

The Legend is called upon often to speak and entertain at prestigious community events, fundraisers and educational forums due to his professionalism and dedication to his craft.

Mix Master Ice, humbled by his impact on the progression of hip hop, still spins with the passion he started with, only now he is called a mentor. He plans to expand his company, Ice Cold Enterprise LLC, by offering international private lessons and more public appearances, always excited to spin wherever the culture and the tables take him.

He celebrates his 44th and 45th DJ anniversary with a worldwide tour in 2024 and 2025, guaranteed to bring the passion and love of hip hop that only the Legendary Mix Master Ice can provide.

He is currently accepting bookings for his (2024/2025) DJ Anniversary World Tour. Email contact@mixmasterice.com
