Vanessa Klassen was born in Kindersley, Saskatchewan, Canada and began her journey as a clarinetist at the age of 10. She completed her Bachelor of Music degree with Dr. Catherine Wood at Brandon University in Brandon, Manitoba, Canada. During her studies, she performed with the Brandon University Clarinet Choir at the International ClarinetFest which was held in Baton Rouge (LA) in 2014. In the following year, she was a member of the “Clarinet Belles” quartet representing Manitoba, who placed third at the National Music Festival (Edmonton, Alberta, Canada). She competed in the National competition once again in 2016, as the woodwind representative of Saskatchewan. Most recently, she performed with the The Ohio State University Clarinet Ensemble at the International ClarinetFest in Orlando (FL). She is currently completing her Master of Music degree at Ohio State with Dr. Caroline Hartig.
