Harris Documentary Screening at New York Public Library

A screening of the documentary film Sonata (1957,) about the distinguished American composer and Ohio State University Professor Emeritus, Donald Harris (b. 1931), and his Piano Sonata, Op. 1., will be held at the New York Public Library for the Performing Arts, Dorothy and Lewis B. Cullman Center, Bruno Walter Auditorium (Map and directions) on Thursday, March 29 from 6 - 8 p.m.  Mr. Harris and the filmmaker, Daniel Beliavsky will lead a Q&A after the film.  

The film was a major highlight at the Ohio State University School of Music 2011 Contemporary Music Festival which featured the music of the festival's founder, Donald Harris.

The festival, now in its 12th year, is an annual highlight of the School of Music concert season.  The 2012 event will highlight the music of Pulitzer Prize composer-in-residence Joseph Schwantner.
