2023-10-09 19:30:00 2023-10-09 21:00:00 Symphonic Band presents "Feeling Heard" This performance by the Ohio State Symphonic Band is a partnership with the exhibition “Facing Feelings: The Art of Raina Telgemeier” currently hosted at the Billy Ireland Cartoon Library and Museum. This concert explores the strong connection between listening and feeling as well as the influence of visual elements on emotional engagement. Audience will hear an “improvisational duet” between artwork of Raina Telgemeier and individual musicians from the Symphonic Band. The performance also features School of Music percussion faculty soloists Susan Powell and Joe Krygier in the ragtime xylophone solo entitled Fluffy Ruffles, by George Hamilton Green/edited by Levesque. A reception follows the performance, at the Billy Ireland Cartoon Library. Scott A. Jones, conductor. Livestream broadcast begins at 7:30 p.m. This concert is free and open to the public. GETTING HERE Park in the Ohio Union South Garage (open to visitors 24/7), walk North along College Rd. to enter the South doors of the Timashev Music Building. Weigel Auditorium is located on the second floor at the far south end of the building. An open stairway located just inside the south doors leads to the hall. If an elevator is needed, walk through the Music Commons, behind the open stairway to the back hallway. Follow the hallway through the double doors to the elevator.
