Alex is a PhD candidate in music theory at The Ohio State University, where he also previously earned a Master of Music in music theory. His primary research interests revolve around video games and interactive multimedia, considering how music and sound design influence a player’s experience. Other research interests include cultural trends in contemporary popular music, expressive uses of pentatonicism, music narrative broadly, and innovative music theory pedagogy. He has previously presented research at the 2019 Pedagogy Into Practice Conference, the UConn 2020 Graduate Music Conference, and both the 2022 and 2023 Music and the Moving Image Conferences.
