Tanya Sparks is the Senior Recruitment and Admissions Specialist for the School of Music. In this role, she guides prospective music students and their families through the admissions process from initial inquiry to matriculation. She coordinates the School of Music Student Ambassador Program and is the music liaison to the university’s Office of Undergraduate Admissions.
Prior to coming to The Ohio State University, she was Manager of Artistic Administration for the Nashville Symphony and then Director of Artistic Planning for the Charlotte (NC) Symphony. In these orchestra management roles, she programmed classical, educational and holiday concerts, took part in recording and commissioning projects, and managed large symphony choruses. She has worked with world renowned musicians Yo-Yo Ma, Alisa Weilerstein, James Galway, Itzhak Perlman, Midori, and Jennifer Higdon, among many others.
She holds a Bachelor of Music degree with a concentration in Music Industry from James Madison University where her primary instrument was flute. She was a four-year member and flute section leader of “Virginia’s Finest,” the Marching Royal Dukes.
