Jiwoon Choi is an active and versatile musician from southeast Michigan. During her studies at Michigan State University, she was a consistent member of the university’s premiere large ensembles. She also performed in local orchestras such as the Jackson Symphony and the Westerville Symphony Orchestra, and has participated in various chamber ensembles where she emphasizes outreach and engagement. She has played in masterclasses for notable flutists such as Bonita Boyd, Lorna McGhee and Jasmine Choi, among others. As an avid supporter of new music, she has taken part in both world and U.S. premieres through the  Fresh Inc. Festival, among other performances. At Ohio State, she has performed with the Wind Symphony and the Symphony Orchestra, and is teaching and freelancing in the Columbus area. She currently serves as co-president of the Central Ohio Flute Association, and as a graduate associate at Ohio State she is teaching music theory and aural skills. Jiwoon holds Bachelor and Master of Music degrees in flute performance from Michigan State University. She is currently pursuing her Doctor of Musical Arts degree. Her principal instructors include Richard Sherman and Katherine Borst Jones.
