The Jazz Studies area provides performance opportunities in 3 big bands and 9 combos.
The jazz faculty are devoted to rehearsing, arranging, and performing all styles of jazz literature.
Big bands include the Jazz Ensemble, Jazz Lab Ensemble, and Jazz Workshop Ensemble.
Combos include Art Blakey, Jazz Fusion, New Orleans Traditional/Swing, Latin Jazz, Jam Session and Combos A, B and C. Also, the Ohio Show Band is a contemporary music ensemble that performs tour-quality shows (incorporating automated lighting, production sequences, dance, video sync, singers, and the latest computer-based production software), performing musical styles from R&B, gospel, and pop to neo soul, contemporary Christian and fusion.
Auditions are required for participation in any big band or combo. Music majors and non-majors are welcome to join!
Instructions, audition schedule and sign-up information for autumn 2018 semester will be available later this summer.
