James Stephenson's Symphony No. 2 ("Voices") is featured, with guest soloist Katherine Rohrer, mezzo-soprano; Russel C. Mikkelson, conductor. Five student chamber groups will perform including the Wind Symphony horn section, the trombone section, a saxophone quartet, and brass and woodwind quintets. They will perform works by Paul Basler, Malcolm Arnold, Paul Creston, Eugène Bozza and Jean Rivier.
Chamber players are Philip Claassen, Anna Dorey, Greg Eberwine, Benjamin Hottensmith, Cameron Reed, horns (Harambee, Basler); Justin Boucher-Foley and Will Patton, trumpets, Phil Claassen, horn, Jacob Chestnut, trombone and Bennett Deshotels, tuba (Allegro Vivace from Quintet No. 1, Arnold); Peter Gooch, Jake Pauley, Gautum Apte, Tiana Ninic and Parker Baird, trombones (Fanfare for Paratroopers, Creston); Alex Goad, flute, Hilary Hobbs, oboe, Gabrielle Valladares, clarinet, Austin Ahlborn, bassoon and Anna Dorey, horn (Woodwind Quintet, op. 48, Bozza); and The Hyperion Saxophone Quartet: Francesca Wantuch, Michael Weintraub, Nick Young and Scott Snyder (Grave et Presto, Rivier).
