Jefferson Academy of Music
The Jefferson Academy of Music @ OSU is a collaboration between Jefferson Academy of Music and the School of Music of The Ohio State University. Together we offer an exceptional opportunity for the study of music for students of all ages and abilities - an opportunity unique in central Ohio. (View photos [pdf] at right)
The extraordinary resources and brilliant faculty of one of the nation's most highly rated university music schools provide the facilities and guidance. The unwavering expectation of excellence articulated by Jefferson Academy of Music founder, Marya Giesy, provides the both the guidance and energy. We invite you to join us in nurturing your own or your child's musical potential.
The decision to introduce music study into a family cannot be lightly made. There is the daily need at home for a time and place to practice. There is transportation to lessons. There are financial obligations for an instrument, instruction, and music books.
As technical and artistic skills develop, many other questions arise: should the student advance to a more challenging program, engage a more experienced instructor, audition for elite ensembles, enter competitions, perform in master classes? All these decisions will depend on you, your child, your family, your circumstances and a thoughtful consideration of the goals and expectations you have.
Everyone involved with the Jefferson @ OSU program has personally encountered each of these obstacles and others. Surmounting each barrier has always been worth the effort many times over. Music brings unimagined rewards and meaning to each of us. We hope it will do likewise for your family.
