First-Year Undergraduate String Orchestra and University Community Orchestra

The ensembles present a shared concert, which is free and open to the public. No ticket required.

First-Year Undergraduate String Orchestra is a chamber ensemble comprised of first-year non-music majors who have played violin, viola, cello or double bass in high school, as well as music majors whose secondary instrument is in the string family. The orchestra performs Andante Festivo, Sibelius; Fugue in G minor (The "Little"), Bach/Doan; Presto from String Quartet Op.131, Beethoven/McCarrick; Brook Green Suite, Holst; Locust Street Rag, Nunez; Acht Stücke, Hindemith. Aaron Yackley, director.

The Ohio State University Community Orchestra consists of students, faculty, staff and alumni with performance experience on an orchestral instrument. Selections include An American Rhapsody, Meyer; Arietta, Anderson; Song Without Words, Holst/Phillippe; Lord of the Rings, de Meij/Lavender; The Christmas Waltz, Cahn and Styne/Brubaker; Christmas Eve/Sarajevo 12/24, O’Neill and Kinkell/Phillips.
