Join School of Music faculty members and guest artists from The United States Army Field Band Brass Quintet, Monday, February 9 at 8 p.m. in Weigel Auditorium.
Program selections include Halsey Stevens' Sonatina, Leonard Bernstein's Three Songs from "West Side Story," Petronio Franceschini's Sonata in D for Two Trumpets, Gustav Mahler's "Um Mitternacht" from Rücket Lieder; with faculty soloists Joseph Duchi, bass trombone; Bruce Henniss, horn; James Akins, tuba; trumpet duo Timothy Leasure and guest Nicholas Althouse; Maria Staeblein, collaborative pianist.
USAFB guests perform quintet works by Frigyes Hidas, J. S. Bach and Andre LaFosse. Brass faculty joins the Army Quintet in Canzon duodecimi toni from Giovanni Gabrieli's Sacra Symphonise; David Hedgecoth conducts the Canzon.
