All performances are free and open to the public. Friday, April 1 Faculty: The Ohio Jaztet   |  8 p.m.  |  Free Comprised of jazz faculty members Shawn "Thunder" Wallace, saxophone and flute; Anthony Stanco, trumpet; Kevin Turner, guitar; Andy Woodson, bass and Jim Rupp, drums, The Ohio Jaztet will present progressive compositions by John Coltrane, Pete McCann and Chris Potter as well as original charts by Wallace, Woodson and Stanco. Selections will be announced from the stage. Saturday, April 2 College Jazz Band Day  |  11 a.m. - 3 p.m.  |  Free Featuring all Ohio State jazz combos, the Jazz Lab Ensemble and the Jazz Workshop Ensemble. Bands, directors and performance times are as follows: Ohio State Combo A, Kevin Turner (11 a.m.); Combo B, Andy Woodson (11:25); Combo C, Colin Wood (11:50); Latin Jazz Combo, Kris Keith (12:15 p.m.); New Orleans Traditional and Swing Combo, Jim Masters (12:40); Jazz Fusion Combo, Mike Smith (1:05); Art Blakey Combo, Anthony Stanco (1:30); Jazz Workshop Ensemble, Mike Smith (1:55) and Jazz Lab Ensemble, Jim Masters (2:30); times listed are approximate.   Headliner Jazz Concert Quamon Fowler, saxophone  |  8 p.m.  |  Free Texas saxophonist Quamon Fowler, artist-in-residence, will be featured with The Ohio Jaztet for an evening of virtuosic and soulful jazz. Selections include Fowler's own compositions "Home Sweet Home," "Mr. Keen," "Everything's Alright," "Li'l Q," "Steppin' On" and "Texas Swagger," as well as Thelonious Monk's "Ask Me Now," Jim Masters' "Theme for Q" and Dizzy Gillespie's "Groovin' High." Sunday, April 3 High School Jazz Band Day  |  12 - 4 p.m.  |  Schedule [pdf]  |  Free The Jazz Studies program welcomes six Ohio high school jazz bands and their directors. Bands present short performances for comments and receive an individualized private mini-clinic. The performances, which are open to the public, begin at 12:05 in Weigel Auditorium. Bands will perform in Weigel Auditorium as follows (scheduled times are approximate): Columbus Youth Jazz Orchestra, Mark Donovan (12:05 p.m.); Benjamin Logan High School Jazz Ensemble of Bellefontaine, Myles Bowers (12:30 p.m.); Fort Hayes Combo of Columbus, Jeff McCargish (12:55); Springfield High School Wildcat Jazz Ensemble, Brad Dragics (1:20); Marysville High School Jazz Ensemble, Bill Thissen (1:40) and Kings High School Jazz Ensemble of Cincinnati, Joe Polen (2:05); times listed are appoximate.
