This is the 14th annual Celebration Concert—Mershon Auditorium, 8pm—featuring incomparable student ensembles in a musical extravaganza that will make you proud. Catherine Hope-Cunningham Now Recruiting for SOM
SOM alumna Catherine Hope-Cunningham has joined the School of Music staff as Music Admissions Coordinator and she's traveling the country talking up music at Ohio State. More about her in the next Alumni Update. In the meantime, if you know students who are interested in studying music at Ohio State, contact Catherine at (614) 292-2870.

Stop by and visit with Catherine Hope-Cunningham and OSU student musicians in the School of Music's booth at the Hilton.
- Alumna Carolyn Gudde Herman ('93), Instrumental Music Director at T.S. Wootton High School in Montgomery County, Maryland, recently alerted Professor Rick Blatti that she's bringing her top orchestra to Midwest. Look for other familiar faces at the conference!
- 2007 OMEA Professional Conference
February 8–10, 2007, Columbus Convention Center
In addition to many performances and clinic presentations by alumni, faculty, and students, OSU School of Music will host a reception at OMEA on Friday, February 9, at 6pm. Location to be announced. See the upcoming Triad for conference details.
Mark Your Calendar
The Society of Alumni and Friends will be gathering in 2007 at the following School of Music events. Details in the new year.
- Saturday, March 10 for the spring opera in Mershon Auditorium.
- Saturday, June 9 for the graduation concert in Weigel Hall.
- On Wednesday, April 4, alumni will be urged to come to campus to talk by phone with prospective music students as they make their final decisions about attending Ohio State. This phone-a-thon is organized by OSU admissions and is a great experience!

Where Are They Now...
Stephen Montague Makes Music in the UK
Stephen Montague, a graduate of Ohio State and former student of Marshall Barnes,
now lives in the United Kingdom. His compositions, regularly performed in the U.S. and
abroad, include "Beyond the Stone Horizon," which was premiered at Dorchester Abbey in their
Music in the Abbey Festival. The work was conducted by John Lubbock and performed by the Orchestra
and Chorus of St. Johns (London) with soprano Dame Felicity Lott. On September 24, Mr. Montague's "Sonic Swamp," a
four-hour multi-media event, was premiered at the Colourscape Festival.
